Kids ‘very amused’ at book fair at Harrogate’s Victoria Shopping Centre

 

Authors from across Yorkshire will be at the Victoria Shopping Centre on Saturday 14 May for the first PYA Children and Young Adults Book Fair. The event will be packed with holiday reading perfect to keep kids entertained throughout the summer.

A host of authors from all three Ridings of Yorkshire will be attending and the event will feature readings from several authors’ best-selling novels and picture books.

The event has been organised by Promoting Yorkshire Authors (PYA), which aims to advance the work of authors who have a close connection with Yorkshire, endeavouring to improve the quality and recognition of their work worldwide.

“We hold events across the county to give exposure to our hundreds of members,” said Paul Smith, PYA’s chair. “We invite the region’s many readers to come along to our first Children and Young Adult book fair, meet the authors and listen to them read from their work.”

Centre Manager of Victoria Shopping Centre, James White, commented, “We are really looking forward to hosting the book fair this May. Not only will the fair be a great way to get children and young adults reading, but it will also give our local Yorkshire authors the platform to promote and sell their books.

“We all spend so much time consumed in digital means of entertainment these days (myself included), that we lose the excitement of reading a really interesting book and using our imagination to set the scene. We hope that hosting and supporting the Promoting Yorkshire Authors (PYA) book fair will give parents the chance to get their little ones reading this summer.”
